France Manufacturing Confidence Falls Slightly

France’s manufacturing climate indicator was down to 96 in June 2025, slightly below May’s figure and market forecasts of 97, moving further away from its long-term average. This marked the lowest reading since March, mainly due to a continued decline in overall order books (-24 vs -23 in May) and foreign order books (-17 vs -16), as well as a sharp increase in finished-good inventories (15 vs 9).

At the same time, expectations about the general production (at -13) and workforce size (at -2) remained pessimistic. Personal production prospects also turned slightly negative (-1 vs 0). Across subsectors, business sentiment deteriorated in machinery and equipment goods and in other manufacturing, while improved in food products and beverages and remained stable for transport equipment.
