US House Prices Unexpectedly Fall 0.4%: FHFA
The average prices of single-family houses with mortgages guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the United States decreased by 0.4% from the previous month in April 2025, missing market expectations of a 0.1% increase. It was the biggest decline since July 2022. For the nine census divisions, monthly price changes ranged from -1.3 percent in the West South Central and South Atlantic divisions to +1.2 percent in the Middle Atlantic division. Year-on-year, house prices advanced by 3% in April, easing from 3.9% the month before. The 12-month changes ranged from +0.5 percent in the Pacific division to +7.4 percent in the Middle Atlantic division.
